This term, all students at Flinders Public School, K-6, will be participating in the annual COS Public Speaking Competition. The aim of the competition is to assist students to become confident, clear and focused speakers, in public situations. This will contribute to an improved self-esteem and benefit students in the world beyond school. Public Speaking is an integral part of a literacy program and is therefore part of every classrooms' curriculum.
Each and every student will be required to prepare and present a speech on the given topic to their class. Two Class Finalists will then be chosen to present that same speech in a Stage Final. From there, four speakers will be chosen to represent their Stage in the Flinders Public School Finals, which will be professionally adjudicated. One speaker from each stage will then be selected to represent our school at the next level of competition – the COS Public Speaking Competition Grand Final at Warilla High School on Friday 22nd September, 2017.
